How much running to do in a week?

I understand what you say about having a difficult time slowing down during your training, I had the same problem when I was young, and I ended up injured a lot.  When I finally forced my body to slow down I was stunned at how far I could run, my lack of injuries, and how fast I was when I was racing.  Trust me, if you discipline yourself to slow down and extend your runs it will pay huge dividends.
